Workouts You Can Take Anywhere

If you are always on the go, you might not be able to maintain an ideal workout routine. This can be a problem especially when you don't have access to a gym. Some national gyms will allow you to use any of their gyms across the country depending on the membership you choose, but even these gyms will usually not have a branch everywhere. Fortunately, there are workout techniques you can use wherever you go.

Bring Dumbbells 

Purchasing a set of dumbbells can allow you to build muscle without heading to the gym. Unlike a barbell or workout machine, dumbbells can be taken anywhere you want to go. With dumbbells, you can perform squats, dumbbell presses, curls, shoulder raises, and tricep workouts.

Learn New Workouts

Dumbbells are not perfect. You need the space to fit them. You could keep dumbbells in your car, but they might be impractical under some circumstances. You can always perform standard exercise techniques such as:

  • Pushups
  • Situps
  • Jumping jacks
  • Leg raises
  • Squats

However, there are several other workouts you can perform that you might not even be aware of. There are several yoga poses that can be great workouts. One of the most effective is the plank pose. You place yourself in a pushup position and then remain in that position for an extended period. The workout comes from your efforts to stabilize your core. Hold this position for 10 seconds.

Find Alternatives to Situps

While situps can be effective, the best exercise for your abdominal muscles is the mountain climber twist. Start by getting into a pushup position. Lift your left knee toward your right arm and then put your knee back in place. Then, lift your right knee toward your left arm and then put it back in place. Do this for several repetitions. 

Learn the Inchworm

With the inchworm workout, stand with your legs straight and make sure that your knees aren't locked. Lower your torso slowly to the floor and walk your hands forward. Reach a pushup position and then make small steps until your feet reach your hands. Do this for several repetitions.

Even if you are able to make it to the gym every day, being able to perform workouts from anywhere can allow you to skip the gym without having to feel guilty. On some days, you may simply need a light workout to meet your fitness goals and these techniques can help immensely.
